HATS OFF: DOMINO’S ‘CAPS’ 10,000 DEBUTANTS AHEAD OF EURO 2016

– UK’s number one pizza brand delivering 10,000 jobs this year –

Domino’s, the UK’s favourite pizza brand, is to deliver 10,000 jobs for new people this year, ahead of a huge summer of sport including Euro 2016 and the Olympic Games.

The pizza maker has pledged to open over 65 new stores across the UK and Ireland this year, and to mark the announcement ahead of Euro 2016, it has worked with the official England cap manufacturers to ‘cap’ its first 11 new starters.

The 11 Domino’s debutants, who will help to make over seven million pizzas for those tuning in to Euro 2016, were presented with their caps by legendary former England boss Kevin Keegan – who captained England in the 1980 European Championships, managed them in Euro 2000 and gave Steven Gerrard his first cap.

The combination of store growth and unprecedented home interest in Euro 2016 mean Domino’s is predicting three pizzas will be ordered per second during the competition, with hungry fans munching a whopping 50 million slices throughout the tournament. To handle the rush, jobs are being made available at every level, from delivery drivers to pizza chefs.

Commenting on the ‘capping’ of 11 Domino’s new starters, Kevin Keegan said:

“I was fortunate enough to give a lot of great players their first caps as England manager and it’s fantastic to be capping a new group, albeit on a different playing field. Domino’s taking on 10,000 new team members to handle the number of fans watching Euro 2016 is great and gives everyone something to cheer about before a ball is even kicked. With a bit of luck I think the home nations and especially England can go far in the tournament so they’ll probably need the extra people!”

Euro 2016 in numbers:

Around 160 pizzas ordered every minute of every day

Pizzas sold during the tournament are expected to stretch the equivalent of over 12,000 miles or more than 200,000 football pitches

Over 50 million slices of pizza are expected to be eaten

Over 5,000 Domino’s pizza makers will create the pizzas

David Wild, Chief Executive Officer at Domino’s, comments: “2016 is a bumper year for Domino’s… we have plans to open around 65 new stores and we’ll serve up over seven million pizzas during the Euros alone. There has never been a better time to join the Domino’s family and we’re now on the hunt for 10,000 ambitious people to join our fun and diverse team. We’re delighted to have Kevin Keegan capping 11 new Domino’s starters ahead of Euro 2016. He’s an England legend but we’re backing all our home nations this year and think Domino’s is the perfect addition to match viewing.”
