– Domino’s UK launches voice ordering through Amazon Alexa –
The nation’s favourite pizza, Domino’s, has today launched a new Skill for Amazon Alexa to help make ordering easier and quicker than ever.
The new Skill also supports Domino’s new GPS delivery tracking in trial locations, which means that Alexa can tell those who cannot wait to know exactly how far away their freshly handmade delivery is, where it is, right down to the minute.
Domino’s order-by-voice is the latest in a line of innovations to help make ordering even easier, including becoming the first pizza company in the UK to offer ordering by emoji and through Facebook Messenger. This newest feature is available on Alexa-enabled devices such as Amazon Echo and Echo Dot.
ORDER A DOMINO’S WITHOUT LIFTING A FINGER…
Domino’s aficionados can now order a pizza by following three simple steps:
1. Set up an Easy Order account at Dominos.co.uk (listing your favourite basket)
2. Enable the Domino’s Skill via the Alexa app
3. Link Domino’s with your Alexa account
4. Now get ready to make the simplest food order ever, over and over again…
HOW IT WORKS
If you are too engrossed in a boxset or the football to divert your eyes from the screen, you can simply call for Alexa, who will take care of your order. Example commands include:
“Alexa, ask Domino’s to feed me”
When hunger hits, our super fans can now just ask to be fed. Nicely, of course. Sit back and relax – your delivery is on the way.
“Alexa, ask Domino’s to track my order”
All you can think about is your Mighty Meaty? This will tell you if your order has been placed, if it’s in the oven, if it’s in quality control, if it’s out for delivery or if it’s ready for collection. We’ve got it covered.
“Alexa, ask Domino’s where my pizza is”
You know your delivery is en route but long will it take? At GPS trial stores, we can now tell you exactly how far away your order is. E.g. “Your food is two minutes away.”
Tony Holdway, Sales & Marketing Director at Domino’s comments:
“We’re delighted to be the first pizza company in the UK to have its own Alexa Skill, which lets people order their favourite freshly handmade Domino’s without touching a button or picking up the phone. We’re always on the look-out for new ways to make our service even easier… We’ve created one-touch, emoji and Facebook Messenger ordering, so it’s really about time you can get your Pepperoni Passion without lifting a finger!”
Alexa is the cloud-based voice service that powers Amazon Echo and Echo Dot. Echo and Echo Dot have an array of seven microphones that use beam-forming technology and enhanced noise cancellation so you can talk to Alexa from across the room, even when it’s a noisy - so you can order a Domino’s in the midst of your favourite boxset, TV programme, sports occasion or party.
Alexa is always getting smarter – just ask and she gets the news and weather, answers questions, plays music, reads audiobooks, turns on and off the lights, gives you sports scores, checks the traffic, and now, most importantly, orders the nation’s favourite pizza.
