PIZZ-ART: DOMINO’S TURNS STORES INTO GALLERIES TO LAUNCH NEW ITALIANO ‘MASTERPIZZAS’

Domino’s, the UK’s favourite pizza brand has today turned stores across the country into Pizz-Art Galleries – transforming great Italian masterpieces into humorously re-designed ‘masterpizzas’ to celebrate the launch of its new range of Italiano pizzas.

China Jordan, a renaissance artist who specialises in ‘old master painting techniques’ and regularly exhibits in galleries of renown such as Saatchi London, took 16 weeks to recreate some of the world’s most famous works of art in celebration of the new Italiano range. Each of China’s paintings has also been given an extra special slice of humour in true Domino’s style!

·         The Mona Lisa eating a pizza

·         An extra tasty handover in The Creation of Adam

·         The cherubs pondering a slice in the Sistine Madonna

·         The Boy with a Basket of Fruit now holding a basket of fresh ingredients ready to ‘make his own’

·         The Birth of Venus depicting the goddess emerging from the sea with her favourite Pizza Legend

The launch of the new Italiano collection offers five authentically Italian, freshly handmade pizzas such as the Milano (prosciutto ham and ventricina salami), the Verona (fresh rocket, prosciutto ham and chicken breast strips) and the Roma (goats cheese, red onions, fresh rocket and roquito cherry peppers) all cooked on Domino’s signature hand-stretched dough.

This latest addition to the much loved menu is very timely, as it ties in with unseen research also released by Domino’s today, which reveals how the UK’s taste palette has evolved in recent years with prosciutto ham, olives and anchovies now listed amongst the nation’s favourite pizza toppings. This makes Domino’s Italiano newcomers likely to be popular choices!

Interestingly, the research also revealed that the UK is becoming far more discerning when it comes to quality and freshness, with UK respondents stating that a pizza being freshly-made is the most important thing to people when it comes to their decision making process.  This is great news for Domino’s lovers once again, as all speciality and Italiano pizzas on the menu are freshly made to order with signature hand-stretched dough.

The new quality Italiano range is being rolled out across all of Domino’s 900 stores this year. The renaissance themed galleries will be popping up in London, Birmingham, Glasgow from this Thursday 17 November, with each gallery staying open for visitors for a weekend.

Renaissance style artist China Jordan comments: “Italy is known as the birthplace of both renaissance art and pizza so perhaps it’s only natural that the two would be fused together at some point. Reimagining and recreating the work of Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci has naturally been challenging – and painting pizza into pictures is certainly a first for me – but I hope my paintings or ‘masterpizzas’ can raise a smile in the pizz-art galleries around the country.”

Louise Butler, a spokesperson for Domino’s comments: “We’ve really enjoyed creating this latest addition to our menu and we think our customers are going to love the variety of new flavours on offer such as our Italian prosciutto ham from San Michele Tiorre and authentic ventricina salami using a regional recipe from Calabria.  What better way to celebrate the arrival of these Masterpizzas than with the opening of our Pizz-art galleries to bring them to life with a slice of Domino’s cheeky humour!”
