– Ten pizza stores across Kent, Essex and London reached its £10k fundraising target –
– Money was raised through special Domino’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity pizza deal –
The nation’s favourite pizza, Domino’s, has today announced that a combined ten stores across Kent, Essex and London have raised £10,000 for charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.
Local stores based in Hadleigh, Rayleigh and Benfleet are showing amazing efforts and commitment to support Teenage Cancer Trust’s mission of providing much-needed specialist care and support to every young person with cancer in the country.
As part of a special online Teenage Cancer Trust charity pizza deal, more than 250 Domino’s team members from ten different Domino’s stores have freshly handmade and delivered nearly 6million slices of pizza, equivalent to travelling the distance from West Ruislip to Epping on the Central Line three times. Essex’s favourite pizza in the charity offer is the Texas BBQ with customers consuming a mouth-watering 108,000 slices over the eighteen-month period.
Niraj Madlani, Domino’s Franchisee, said: “It’s been a fantastic effort from everyone in the Domino’s team, from those hand-making pizza to those delivering it fresh to order. We set ourselves a target of £10,000 to raise for this charity close to our hearts and are extremely grateful to every single person who has helped us to raise this substantial sum, from our own team to everyone who has ordered through the Teenage Cancer Trust deal. We are thrilled to be able to help in some way through our group of stores and will continue to raise as much as we can!”

About Teenage Cancer Trust
Teenage Cancer Trust makes sure the seven young people aged 13 to 24 diagnosed with cancer every day don’t face it alone. They help young people and their families deal with the many ways cancer screws up your body, mind and life. The charity works in partnership with the NHS, providing expert staff and specialist units in Principal Treatment Centers for cancer, and bring young people together so they can support each other.
Teenage cancer Trust also give presentations in schools so young people understand more about cancer and go to the doctors earlier. And they help medical professionals and politicians understand why young people with cancer need specific support.
Almost half of young people with cancer are not treated in Teenage Cancer Trust units. Instead they are treated in hospitals where there isn’t the same level of expertise, and they might never meet another young person with cancer. This is a scary and lonely experience. This must change. So Teenage Cancer Trust are building a wider Nursing & Support Service within the NHS to help all young people, wherever they receive treatment. To make this happen, they need to raise more than £20 million every year by 2020.
