DING DOM: INTRODUCING A WORLD FIRST IN PIZZA DOOR-LIVERY

– Domino’s reinvents the traditional letterbox to keep home deliveries fresh for longer –

Domino’s has announced a world first in ‘door-livery’ innovation – a new supersized ‘Heatwave Letterbox’ that keeps orders fresh and piping hot for up to 12 hours. The ‘Door-mino’s’ invention is a must for anyone who wants pizza waiting for them when they get home from a long day or night out – or for those who just don’t like answering the door.

What is it?

A brand new piece of door furniture that replaces your traditional letterbox so Domino’s can be delivered whether you’re in or out. If you can’t beat the delivery driver home, the box will simply be stored in the ‘Heatwave’ – a patent-pending ergonomic design and easy-fit installation locker that keeps pizza piping hot and fresh for 12 hours.

How does it work?

The Heatwave is much more than just a wider letterbox and comes packed with technological features including a real-life junk mail filter, a pet repellent and a motion sensor that alerts your smartphone when the pizza has arrived. Domino’s drivers simply pop the box into the perfectly sized contraption and hey presto, your meal is ready and waiting for you to pick up on your own doorstep. Door owners can choose from a range of finishes including ice chrome, slick nickel and classy brassy.  Watch a video of the future of door-livery here.

Who is it for?

Domino’s is constantly innovating to make people’s lives easier and the latest invention is aimed at those who crave pizza waiting for them after a long working day or big night out. Focus groups and initial testing also found a third key target segment for the heat-retaining hardware – those who don’t like answering the door.

Product testing

Early trials of the futuristic feature have been overwhelmingly positive. Calls for a nationwide rollout have been deafening with 93 out of 100 people surveyed saying they would “almost definitely” have a Heatwave Letterbox in their home.

Danny Door, the first person to update his letterbox said:

“I’m over the moon with it. I love pizza and I love my front door so this is just the perfect combination.”

Martin Bell, Head of R&D on the Door-mino’s project, commented:

“We’ve taken the standard Victorian 76mm x 255mm letterbox and after months of rigorous research, in-depth analysis, development and redesign, we’ve made it a bit bigger. Now it’s the perfect size to accommodate your favourite Domino’s pizza. At last.”

Where can I get it?

Domino’s is looking to rollout a limited edition Heatwave Letterbox nationwide on 1st April 2017 – see further information here
