Meet our HomeGrown Heroes!
We believe that no one knows how to run a successful Domino’s store better than the people who’ve already worked with the Domino’s brand. That’s why in 2021 we launched our Homegrown Hero programme, created to give entrepreneurial team members, who have proven their abilities working under the Domino’s brand, the opportunity to open their own store.
We believe it's important to make the opportunity to become a Domino’s Franchise Partner more accessible to our incredible team members—both current and former.
So far, we’ve welcomed five new franchise partners through this programme and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made in supporting the growth of our system and nurturing internal talent.
We are currently pausing applications for HomeGrown Heroes to focus on our current pipeline of applicants. We hope to re-open soon, watch this space!
Meet homegrown hero: Lucy Harman
Franchise Partner for Hayling Island store
Lucy Harman is our first female Homegrown Hero, and her journey with Domino's is super inspiring. At 16, she began her Domino's career working two evenings a week, answering phones and making pizzas, at her local store in Kent. Her hands-on approach and love for the hustle led her to take on more responsibility, rising from shift manager to store manager. This June, Lucy took the bold step to become a franchisee, opening her first store in Hayling Island, Hampshire!
"My family and I love the coast and so when it came to choosing where to open my first store, we didn’t hesitate to choose Hayling Island for its unique beauty. To become a franchisee in such a wonderful location is a dream come true and part of an amazing journey with Domino’s that began with me on the phones in Whitstable! I’m really look forward to serving up pizzas to the neighbourhood and getting to know the local community while showing that I can combine being a Mum with having a successful career.”
Meet HomeGrown Hero: Ali Amir
Franchise Partner for Tattershall store
Ali joined Domino’s in 2018 as an Operations Evaluation Coach (OEC) - a role that’s all about supporting our franchisees in delivering that top-notch Domino’s experience. Ali opened his first store in Tattershall, Lincolnshire on 17th July 2023.
“When I started, I had management experience from previous roles at Costa and KFC, but learning the ‘Domino’s way’ - making pizzas, getting to grips with the store dynamics - was a whole new game. I spent three months perfecting my pizza-making skills. Getting the key to my own Domino’s store felt so surreal. But the proudest moment was opening the door to our very first customers. It felt like everything I’d been working towards for the past few years finally came together.”
MEET HOMEGROWN HERO: Peter Sidhu
Franchise Partner for Cheadle Store
Peter was with Domino’s for over 31 years before he become a Franchise Partner. He started in store and worked his way up to Store Manager within two years. He then took on more senior roles, including Store Specialist and Area Manager.
"Thank you to the Domino’s Pizza Group team for providing me with the tools, training and support on my Homegrown Heroes journey. After working within an existing franchise partner business, through the programme I was able to grab a slice of the action for myself opening my first store in Cheadle. I have a great team in place - it feels like a family which is what I wanted. I even have my son working part time alongside me!"
MEET HOMEGROWN HERO: KIRAT TOOR
Franchise Partner for Whittlesey store
In 2021, Kirat Toor opened the first HomeGrown Heroes store in Whittlesey, and we were there to capture the first moments, hear his thoughts on the experience as of becoming a Domino’s Franchise Partner and find out why he has stayed in the Domino's family for over 24 years!
"I was delighted to apply and join the HomeGrown Heroes programme, opening my first store in Whittlesey within 18 months and becoming the first Homegrown Hero and new Domino’s franchisee in over 15 years. After 24 years at Domino’s, it was a very special moment for me to be able to open my own store. It wouldn’t have been possible without with the support from the Domino’s Pizza Group team, existing franchise partner network and my fantastic in-store team!"
