STAR CRUST LOVERS GRAB A SLICE OF LONG-DISTANCE ROMANCE

STAR CRUST LOVERS ‘RICHARD & JULIET’ GRAB A SLICE OF LONG-DISTANCE ROMANCE

A modern-day Romeo, Richard McKeever, 26, from Belfast, pulled out all the stops to sweep his sweetheart Juliet Harris, 21, off her feet in Leamington Spa this week with a surprise date night with a difference.  Richard asked Domino’s UK to help coordinate a simultaneous pizza delivery in two countries - with a little bit of extra cheese thrown in for good measure.

The carefully choreographed delivery, a first of its kind organised by the company, was carried out after love-struck Richard contacted Domino’s to ask if they could do anything to help him and his long-distance girlfriend continue their usual weekly pizza date-night in - despite the 380 miles between them across the Irish Sea.

Juliet, who had been previously living with her boyfriend in Belfast, recently returned to university in Warwickshire to continue her degree, but Richard was determined to make sure that the distance didn’t keep them apart.

Whilst she didn’t have a balcony, Richard opted for surprises over sonnets for his Juliet. As well as her favourite Domino’s pizza, the driver appeared at her door with a huge bunch of flowers, romantic candles, a bottle of champagne and a violinist to serenade her. Meanwhile Richard witnessed the special delivery and Juliette’s thrilled reaction via a video chat on Skype.

Juliet said: “To say I was shocked was an understatement – not exactly your normal pizza delivery! It caused a bit of commotion on the street too as passers-by stopped to stare and my neighbours didn’t have a clue what was going on. I was so touched and overwhelmed that Richard managed to pull this off – definitely a twist on our usual Two for Tuesday Domino’s pizza night in!”

Richard said: “Long distance relationships can be tricky and it’s the little things you miss, like having dinner together and curling up on the sofa with a pizza and a film. I thought a bit of old fashioned romance might be able to help to bridge the gap. I never thought it would all come together and as well as helping with the delivery, Domino’s has offered us long-distance pizza dates for a year and some flights for Juliet to come and visit me in Belfast when she next has some time off, which is pretty amazing!

Dejan Vukelic, Store Manager at Leamington Spa store said: “Although they say distance makes the heart grow fonder, we’re delighted that we could help keep romance alive with Richard and Juliet. Working closely with the Belfast store team we enjoyed the challenge of this extra-special coordinated delivery, and wanted everything to be absolutely perfect for Juliet. We wish the couple the very best for the future.”
