Local businessman Siggy Wilberg, Domino’s longest standing UK franchisee, is celebrating 25 years in Swindon with the pizza delivery company.

Born in Norway in 1944, Siggy moved to the UK in 1980 and, on spotting an opportunity for pizza delivery, set up one of the country’s first pizza delivery companies – the American Pizza Company. Having built up a network of six stores, he sold up and became one of Domino’s very first franchisees in late ‘80s with the opening of a Domino’s store in London. Following success with two Domino’s stores in London, Siggy, who lived in Abingdon at the time, jumped at the chance to open the first Domino’s in Swindon and sold his London stores to work closer to home.
Today, Siggy owns four stores in Swindon which employ over 230 local people, as well as four other stores in Yate, Bath, Newbury and Halesowen, plus one in Germany. Siggy runs his franchise with business partner James Swift, who began working for Siggy as a delivery driver aged 16. Siggy has mentored James over the years and the pair became business partners in 2000.

Siggy has won all manner of awards during his time at Domino’s including the British Franchise Association’s long standing franchisee of the year award 2013 and a Gold Franny – an accolade presented only to the very top Domino’s franchisees worldwide from over 70 countries. He’s a true Domino’s Viking and has continued to grow his business and reinvest in Swindon over the past 25 years, most recently with extensive refits for his stores in West Swindon and Taw Hill. Away from Domino’s, Siggy is a greatly respected, international dog judge – he has been judging for 45 years and regularly attends Crufts.

Siggy Wilberg, Domino’s franchisee, said: “I’m delighted to be celebrating my silver jubilee in Swindon. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed growing my business here – the town certainly seems to have an appetite for pizza and it’s been a real honour to serve so many homes and businesses during this time. My menu may have changed over the years – and we certainly didn’t have online ordering 25 years ago! – but my passion for pizza is still the same as the very first day I opened my first Domino’s store.”

To mark his 25 years in Swindon and to thank pizza lovers for their custom over the years, Siggy and his team will hold a range of celebrations including 25% off all pizza until 15th June, from the Domino’s stores in West Swindon, Taw Hill, Old Town and East Swindon, as well as billboards around the town and local events.
