HAPPY NATIONAL CHEESE PIZZA DAY

THE ‘GRATEST’ DAY OF THEM ALL - FRIDAY 5TSEPTEMBER 2014

Yes you read correctly, there really is a national day dedicated to celebrating the classic cheese pizza. There are hundreds of difference pizza types and toppings, but they all originated with the humble cheese and tomato.

In homage to National Cheese Pizza Day (Friday 5t September) Domino’s Pizza UK has pulled together some cheesy pizza facts:

  • ·         11,000 tonnes – the amount of fresh 100% mozzarella cheese Domino’s Pizza will use this year, the equivalent of 1,375 double decker buses

  • ·         25 years – the number of years Dan Janssen, a 38-year-old woodworker based in Maryland has eaten almost nothing but cheese pizza for

  • ·         10 cm – the length Domino’s mozzarella stretches when it undergoes a quality ‘stretch test’

  • ·         1800s – the century cheese pizza first came onto the scene, when an Italian baker named Raffaele Esposito whipped up a margarita pizza for visiting royalty

  • ·         130 deg F and 175 deg F – the temperature range between which goey mozzarella melts

  • ·         32.28 seconds – the awesome speed at which Pali Grewal, the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker – can make three large pizzas in. That's making three pizzas in less than 11 seconds each!

  • ·         2010 - the year in which the World’s Longest Mozzarella was prepared, it measured a whopping 106 m 16 cm

  • ·         12.19 tonnes – the weight of the World’s Largest Pizza. The pizza measured a gut busting 37.4m (122ft 8in) in diameter
