New store invites 11 year old Joshua and his family for a pizza making master class

On Wednesday [August 26, 2014], Domino’s Pizza, the pizza delivery expert in Colne, celebrated the opening of its new store with a very special store tour in conjunction with Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity – a children’s charity which grants wishes for children with serious and life-limiting illnesses.  The store invited local boy Joshua and his family in for a pizza making master class.

11 year old Joshua, from Darwen, is currently living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia – a cancer of the blood. This means he and his family spend a lot of time in Great Ormond Street Hospital while he recovers from a recent bone marrow transplant. Despite this, Joshua is still a very positive young boy. Rays of Sunshine will grant his wish to go to on a family holiday to Florida and in the meantime, Domino’s wanted to offer him a fun day out pizza making at their brand new store.

Mike Racz, franchisee of Domino’s in Colne, said: “Rays of Sunshine is a very worthwhile charity and we’re pleased to be able to support them and the families they help. Joshua is a fantastic young lad and it was a real pleasure to invite him into my new store for our very first store tour. My team and I were very impressed with Joshua’s dough stretching, saucing and cheesing skills!”

Marie, Joshua’s mum, said: “It was great to give Joshua a break from the norm and to do something fun, which took his mind off his recent treatment. We all thoroughly enjoyed our pizza making session at Domino’s – it’s not as easy as it looks but the pizzas we made were very tasty!”
